Anyone who likes the old-fashioned 19th-century atmosphere of the city’s covered passages will adore this charming hotel in Passage Jouffroy, once frequented by Frederic Chopin. Opened in 1846, the hotel has an elevator, 36 rooms with private bath (bathtub with handheld shower), and satellite TV. The romantic décor is a mix of vintage wooden architectural detail and modern furnishings (and, it must be said, slightly garish salmon walls and green carpets). There’s a breakfast room and drinks dispenser. It’s a bustling neighborhood during the day, just off the hectic grands boulevards, but the passage closes to the public at night so there’s no noise in the rooms. The location is at the center of the Right Bank, with direct access to two métro lines and several bus lines. It’s a good location for clubbing night-owls.
